Verizon CFO Hints At ‘iPhone 5′ Launch In Q4 2012

Until now, rumors have claimed that Apple will launch their hotly anticipated ‘iPhone 5′ either in September or October.

However, The Verge reports that Verizon Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo may have hinted at the launch of the next generation iPhone in the fourth quarter during today’s earnings conference call.

The Verge reports:

When asked what might have held customers back from upgrading their devices in Q2, Shammo said that “of course there’s always that, uh, rumor mill out there with a new phone coming out there in the fourth quarter, so people may be waiting.” While there’s a chance that he was referring to the next Nexus phone, this felt more like a thinly-veiled reference to the oft-rumored “new iPhone.”

It is quite possible that Shammo comments were based on the rumors rather than any insider information as Apple rarely shares such information with its carriers.

In our opinion, since iPhone 4S was launched in October 2011, the launch of the 6th generation iPhone in Q4 (Verizon’s fourth quarter starts on October 1st) seems more likely than in September.

Do you plan to upgrade or buy the new iPhone if it is launched in October? Let us know in the comments.
