T Mobile Starts Carrying BlackBerry Torch 9810 Next Week

AT&T announced back in August that several new BlackBerry models were on their way to the carrier, including the Torch 9810. A few weeks further on into the month the phone was going up for sale. Now it’s T-Mobile’s turn to follow suit, and today it announced its own plans for Torch while opening up limited pre-orders for the handset.

The official arrival day for the Torch 9810 won’t be until a week from today, on November 9; that’s when you’ll be able to find the phone at T-Mobile’s retail locations. Today’s start of pre-orders is limited to business customers only, and we haven’t heard of any plans to open pre-orders to the general public prior to the handset’s arrival on the ninth.

T-Mobile will be offering the Torch 9810 for about $ 250 on-contract, after rebates. That’s an unfortunate price at which to launch the phone, especially considering how AT&T is currently able to offer the 9810 for a mere $ 50 on-contract. We’ll likely see T-Mobile’s price drop in the weeks following the phone’s release, but it’s going to be very hard for it to compete right out of the gate.

The Torch 9810 is a portrait-orientation QWERTY slider powered by a 1.2GHz processor, with a 3.2-inch VGA display and five-megapixel camera.
