New Sony Xperia Tablet Leaked

XperiaTabletLeak New Sony Xperia Tablet Leaked

A new Sony tablet has been leaked, just a few weeks before a Sony event where there’s a good chance such a device will be announced. While Sony’s previous tablets used only the brand name and a letter – S and P – this new model is expected to take the Xperia name.

The Xperia Tablet has been discovered in a presentation, and a series of pictures showed a slate with a similar design to the Tablet S, but with a thinner profile. This time the body is made of splashproof aluminium, indicating it will be a high quality model.

Inside will be a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and a choice of either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory. A 6000mAh battery should keep the tablet up and running for 10 hours, and there will be both a 3G and a Wi-Fi-only version.

Other features include an 8 megapixel camera on the rear and a single-megapixel video call lens on the front, plus Assisted GPS for the 3G Xperia Tablet, an SD card slot, Bluetooth 3.0 and DLNA connectivity. The Xperia Tablet will be PlayStation Certified, so it’ll play special games available from a dedicated app store.

The images also show a slim-line keyboard built into a case, and it looks very similar to the keyboard/case introduced with the Microsoft Surface.

Sony’s tablet will probably run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and prices will range from $ 449 to $ 649, although it’s not clear whether this is for the Wi-Fi or 3G version. Converting those prices over to pounds gives an approximate UK cost of £280 to £415.

Sony’s pre-IFA event is scheduled for August 29, and the Xperia Tablet could be one of the stars.
