cybook odyssey Bookeen Cybook Odyssey has new HSIS technologyWhen it comes to the world of e-book readers, the number of choices aren’t as astounding as that of tablets – but that does not mean the devices you have at your disposal are sub-par in any way. No sir, as Bookeen can attest, the Cybook Odyssey is their latest addition to the stable, where it will be the first e-Reader equipped with High Speed Ink System (HSIS) technology. Taking a good couple of years of development in order to create this technology, it is said that HSIS technology is able to revolutionize the way electronic ink displays work by making them faster, more reactive and more fluid.

I guess tablet users would look upon the Cybook Odyssey with suspicion, wondering whether e-paper technology is able to keep up with tablets after being so used to highly reactive touch-screen LCD tablets or smartphones. The Bookeen Cybook Odyssey is said to be the first ever e-Reader that can operate at high speed without sacrificing the beneficial properties of electronic ink.

Touted to arrive in Europe in the coming weeks, there is still no word on the Cybook Odyssey’s price point. We do know that it will run on an 800MHz Cortex A8 processor from Texas Instruments while sporting Wi-Fi connectivity and a 6″ E Ink Pearl wide touch-screen display.
